A cool new way to unlock cars
Zipcar have invented a brand new way to unlock the car. Could this unique idea work well for them in bringing them in more customers. They have realised that a lot of people seem to purchasing the iPhone so they have been hard at work implementing this into their new way of renting cars.
They already have just over 400 of their cars set to be used with this new method of unlocking. It will not unlock for any old phone at all because this new system can tell if it is the current renters iPhone or an old one or even perhaps a thief attempting to be clever. There is a small system placed in the car itself and is used to pick uup the unique signal from the phone. Of course the company had to introduce a way that meant that only you iPhone would unlock the car and this comes in the form of an electronic key card.
This invention sounds like it is coming straight from a famous spy movie than anything else. Of course you are not going to be able to do this with new cars yet because this is happening only at Zipcar. It is almost certain that eventually this idea will be used across the world and you will have everyone unlocking their cars in this way. Perhaps in the future when you go to Buy a new Alfa Romeo or perhaps when you buy a Toyota
So what is next for the iPhone and car? Perhaps you will be able to let the phone steer your car for you or do it via remote controlled access like in the Bond movies or perhaps this is as far as it is going to go. With newer and better pieces of hardware out every month it is almost certain to say we can expect some similar types of inventions on the way.
